Who we are
Little Brigand Books is a trading name of Anakaínisi Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 14773927. Our registered office is 11 High Street, Battle, East Sussex TN33 0AE. We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice. Write to publisher@littlebrigandbooks.com.
The short version
We collect only what we need to answer your letters, send the newsletter you asked for and, when direct sales open, deliver the books you buy. We never sell your information, and we never use it for anyone else's marketing.
What we collect and why
When you write to us through the contact form or by email, we collect your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us, so that we can read and reply to your message. When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your first name (optional), your email address and a record of when you signed up, so that we can send you news of our books, extracts and events. When direct sales open and you buy a book from us, we will collect your name, delivery address, email address, order details and payment confirmation; we never see or store your full card details. When you visit the site, our server keeps technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view in its logs, so that we can keep the site secure and working.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the trusted firms that help us run the house, and only as much as each needs: Holograph Ltd, who build and host this website and its content management system; our payment provider, when direct sales open; our courier or postal service, when we post a book; our email and IT providers; and our accountants and professional advisers. Each is bound to keep your information secure and to use it only on our instructions, or is itself a controller with its own privacy notice. We may also share information where the law requires it. If you buy Little Sins through Amazon or another retailer, that retailer handles your order and its own privacy notice applies; we receive none of your personal details.
International transfers
We keep your information in the UK. If we ever need a provider that stores data outside the UK, we will update this notice and name the safeguard we rely on.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and our replies for two years from our last exchange, unless an ongoing matter needs them longer. We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe; we then keep only your email address on a suppression list so that we never write again by mistake. We keep order and payment records for six years from the end of the financial year of the sale, as UK tax law requires. We keep server logs for ninety days.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies. The forms on this site do not save your answers in your browser. You can read more on our Cookies page.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you; to ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete; to ask us to delete your information; to ask us to restrict how we use it, or to object to our using it; to ask for information you gave us to be passed to you or another organisation in a common format; and to withdraw your consent at any time, for example by using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter. Write to publisher@littlebrigandbooks.com. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell newsletter subscribers by email.
